Diaz, 56, is the latest politician to join the growing list of Chavista dissidents who have died in a Venezuelan prison country, reported the Venezuelan Penal Forum.

The news was confirmed by both Venezuelan authorities and Diaz's family and his political party, the social-democratic Democratic Action (AD).

Diaz was one of the more than 2,000 Venezuelans detained after the repression that took place in the country following the disputed presidential elections of July 28, 2024.
