White House Chief of Staff criticizes Bondi over Epstein case

Susie Wiles, President Donald Trump's chief of staff, criticized Attorney General Pam Bondi's handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case, asserting that she "completely missed the mark" by releasing purported secret Epstein documents that contained no new information.
Wiles, 68, made the statements during a Vanity Fair interview, surprising those who know her, as she is very discreet and does not usually speak in public. She also commented on the personalities of Donald Trump and JD Vance.
“There is no client list”
“First, he gave them folders full of nothing. And then he said the witness list, or the client list, was on his desk. There is no client list, and it certainly wasn't on his desk,” the chief of staff stated in the interview.
Wiles expressed that prosecutor Bondi “underestimated the sensitivity of the issue among the president's voters and supporters at the beginning of the year” when she gave the folders to a group of influential conservative social media figures, which did not include any new information about the case.
She also shared in Vanity Fair that “there is no evidence” that former President Bill Clinton visited Epstein's private island, despite Trump accusing him of having done so several times: “the president was wrong,” were Wiles's words.
She indicated that the entire situation caused tensions unnecessary within the administration and reinforced conspiracy theories surrounding the case.
“Defamatory article”
After the article, which was divided into two parts, was published, the chief of staff asserted that it was a “defamatory article” and that her words were “taken out of context.”
“The article published early this morning is a deceptively crafted piece that attacks me and the greatest president, the greatest White House staff, and the greatest cabinet in history,” Wiles wrote in X.
For her part, Bondi said via X that Wiles is a close ally of President Trump.“My dear friend fights daily to advance President Trump’s agenda, and she does so with grace, loyalty, and historic effectiveness,” she wrote.
Trump was not offended
In the magazine interview, she also noted that Donald Trump has “an alcoholic personality” and described Vice President JD Vance as a “conspiracy theorist.”
Donald Trump was questioned about this and expressed that he was not offended by Wiles’s alleged statements. Meanwhile, Vance defended Wiles and joked, “I only believe in conspiracy theories that are true.”
