Varanasi GyanVapi Case: A hearing is going on in the district court on the Gyanvapi Masjid-Kashi Vishwanath temple complex dispute. A hearing is going on in the court today i.e. on May 26, on the application of Order 7 Rule 11, seeking to quash the civil suit of the Hindu side claiming the Gyanvapi mosque of the Muslim side.

The court sought objection from both the parties on the survey
Before hearing the Gyanvapi case, the judge sought objections from both Hindu and Muslim parties on the report of the Advocate Commissioner's Survey. Earlier, the petition seeking permission to worship the Shivling found in the Gyanvapi Masjid was transferred to a fast track court on 25. Now it will be heard on May 30. The case has been transferred by Civil Judge Senior Division Ravi Kumar Diwakar to the court of Civil Judge Senior Division (Fast Track Court) Mahendra Kumar Pandey.
Shivling worship case transferred to fast track court
Actually, the Hindu side had filed a petition in the civil court. In this, there was a demand for handing over the Gyanvapi Masjid to Hindus and worship, the matter was heard on 25 May. Petitioner Jitendra Singh Bisen, the advocate of Kiran Singh, said that the court has also accepted that this dispute should be settled at the earliest. The court has fixed the date of the hearing on May 30. Soon Shivling will be in front of us for Jalabhishek.
In fact, the hearing of Varanasi's mother Shringar Gauri- Gyanvapi case could not be completed that now another petition was filed. In the petition filed in the court of Civil Judge Senior Division, it has been demanded that the entry of Muslims in the mosque premises should be banned and demand has been made to hand it over to the Hindus. This petition has been filed in the court by Kiran Singh, International General Secretary of Vishwa Vedic Sanatan Sangh.
What are the Places of Worship Act
According to this act, the place of worship of any religion which came into existence before 15th August 1947 cannot be converted into a place of worship of any other religion. If anyone tries to contravene this Act, he can be fined and jailed for up to three years. This law was brought by the then Congress Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao government in 1991. This law came when the issue of Babri Masjid and Ayodhya was very hot. The section says that if any petition regarding change in any religious place existing on 15 August 1947 is pending in the court, then it will be closed.
