Himachal Congress unit has suffered a major setback before the elections. Many big leaders and workers of the party have left the Congress late on Monday and joined the BJP. These include the names of many big leaders of the party including former General Secretary of Congress State Committee Dharampal Thakur. In the presence of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and state election in-charge Sudhan Singh, 26 workers, including former office bearers of the Congress party, were inducted into the BJP in Shimla.

Voting in Himachal Pradesh is on 12th November. Earlier, the departure of Congress leaders to the BJP is being seen as a big setback for the party. Here, while giving information about this on its Twitter handle, Himachal Pradesh BJP unit said, due to the repressive policies of the Congress, former office bearers and workers of Shimla Congress party have left the Congress party and joined BJP.

Just before the elections, the BJP is constantly giving a jolt to the Congress. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur had mentioned that the BJP and Congress government would be formed alternately in every assembly election in Himachal Pradesh and claimed that the BJP government would remain in the state for the next 25 years. He had said that the state has a history of forming government alternately between the Congress and the BJP in every assembly election since 1982. But this time BJP is going to break this tradition.

Here, the Congress on Monday asked the BJP to give an account of past election promises instead of making new promises ahead of the Himachal Pradesh elections and said that it should seek votes from the people on the basis of its report card and not its manifesto. The Congress party's remarks came a day after BJP president JP Nadda released the party's manifesto for the November 12 assembly elections in the state.
