Electricity consumers of Madhya Pradesh may get a big shock. Now, on the lines of petrol and diesel, the prices of electricity in the state may increase every month. The Madhya Pradesh Regulatory Commission has made this point more concrete by issuing a general notice. In fact, the Government of India has itself recommended the power distribution companies of the states to increase every Maha Tariff.
The Government of India has instructed the Electricity Regulatory Commissions of the states to amend the rules of tariff determination. After this decision of the Government of India, the Madhya Pradesh Regulatory Commission has issued a general notice that preparations are being made to change the formula for fuel cost adjustment (fuel effect adjustment), which increases every 3 months. The commission has also sought suggestions from the general public for this. The Electricity Regulatory Commission is also going to hold a public hearing on those suggestions.
New surcharge will be imposed on the public
If there is a change in the formula for fuel cost adjustment, then it will be named 'Fuel and Power Purchase Adjustment Surcharge' at the new level. In this way, there will be a change or increase in the electricity rates every month. It will not be necessary for electricity distribution companies to take the permission of the commission for this. The power companies will get this verified from the Electricity Regulatory Commission only at the end of the year
At present, 34 paise per unit FCA is being imposed in Madhya Pradesh. If companies want to increase it, they have to appeal before the Regulatory Commission. The Commission gives permission to increase the FCA only after a thorough investigation. But, now if this new proposal is approved, then not only the existence of the commission will be questioned, but the power companies will be free to increase the price arbitrarily.
