The Lok Sabha elections have kicked off with a unique initiative in Rajasthan. Beginning today, the process of voting from home has commenced for the first phase of elections in the state. The Election Commission has introduced the 'vote from home' facility for citizens above 85 years of age and those with disabilities. This initiative has been implemented in several states across the country.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Rajasthan today as part of his campaign tour. He is set to address a rally in Churu, Rajasthan at 12 noon. The rally will be attended by senior leaders, including Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma.

In the electoral battleground of Churu, the BJP has nominated Devendra Jhajharia as its candidate. The political dynamics in Churu have become intricate with Jhajharia contesting against Rahul Kaswan, who recently switched from BJP to Congress. PM Modi has personally endorsed Jhajharia, whom he has known since his historic gold medal win at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

PM Modi's visit to Rajasthan doesn't end with today's rally. Tomorrow, he will hold another election rally in Pushkar in support of BJP candidate Bhagirath Chaudhary from Ajmer. This marks the beginning of a series of frequent visits by the PM in the run-up to the elections, with Rajasthan going to polls in two phases on April 19 and April 26.

Ahead of the polls, more than 58 thousand voters in Rajasthan have opted for home voting. Among them, 35,542 individuals are registered for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. This includes 26,371 senior citizens and 9,171 people with over 40 percent disability. Voting will be conducted through postal ballots, with election officials, political parties, and candidates present during the process. Home voting for the first phase will continue from April 5 to April 14.
