Southern California beaches closed due to tsunami precaution
Beach closures include Long Beach, Marina del Rey and Laguna Beach; officials recommended staying out of the water due to the tsunami warning
Some beaches in Southern California are closed after the tsunami warning that was issued this Tuesday for the magnitude 8.8 earthquake that occurred off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia.
Areas that remain closed, at least until Wednesday morning, include beaches in Long Beach, Marina del Rey, and Laguna Beach.
Officials are keeping the closure in effect for the following areas:
A tsunami warning was issued Tuesday afternoon for the Pacific coast, including Alaska and Hawaii, in response to the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck near Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula.
