ICE stops a candidate for mayor of New York by demanding a judicial order in arrest of immigrant
Brad Lander is a candidate for Mayor of New York, but he is also the City Comptroller
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents detained Brad Lander, current Comptroller of the City of New York and candidate for mayor, after demanding that the officers show the judicial order to arrest an immigrant.
The events occurred in the immigration courts in the Big Apple, where Lander allegedly grabbed the detained immigrant by the shoulder until ICE officers showed the warrant.
“Take him away,” an agent was heard saying. Lander was taken by both arms and detained.
Despite being subdued, the officer expressed his disagreement with ICE’s way of operating.
“You do not have the authority to arrest American citizens,” Lander repeated.
The video shared by a journalist from the local media outlet amNY shows the moment of the arrest.
