Pakistan’s Defence Minister Issues Nuclear Warning Amid Escalating Tensions with India

In a development that has raised international concern, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has issued a stark warning to India, suggesting that any existential threat to Pakistan could prompt a nuclear response. This statement comes in the wake of the recent Pahalgam attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including tourists.

Minister Asif announced that Pakistan’s armed forces have been reinforced and are on high alert, anticipating a possible military incursion by India. He stated, “We have reinforced our forces because it is something which is imminent now. So in that situation, some strategic decisions have to be taken, so those decisions have been taken.”

Addressing concerns about nuclear escalation, Asif clarified that Pakistan would consider the use of nuclear weapons only if its existence were directly threatened. He emphasized, “Pakistan is on high alert and it would only use its arsenal of nuclear weapons if there is a direct threat to our existence.”
