Latin American football once again made its presence felt in the annual ranking of national team coaches compiled by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). Aguirre's inclusion in the top 10 is largely explained by winning the 2025 Gold Cup, a title that strengthened the Mexican team's progress in a key year. The coach, with an extensive international career, has once again positioned himself among the elite of national team football and now has his sights set on the 2026 World Cup, to be held in Mexico, the United States, and Canada. For the Mexican coach, this distinction comes in a highly demanding context, with the responsibility of competing as host in the next World Cup. Scaloni remains among the elite, and Lorenzo consolidates his cycle. Lionel Scaloni, for his part, was chosen as the third-best men's national team coach in the world in 2025. The Argentine coach reaffirmed his international standing after having won this same award in 2022 and 2023, and once again reached the IFFHS podium. On this occasion, he finished only behind Luis de la Fuente and Roberto Martinez, in a ranking that once again highlighted the consistency of the Argentine process in recent years. The top spot went again to Luis de la Fuente, who was recognized for the second consecutive year as the best national team coach in the world. The Spanish coach topped the ranking with 136 points, surpassing Roberto Martinez, current coach of Portugal, who totaled 83. Scaloni completed the podium with 59 points, reaffirming his place among the most influential coaches in international football. Spain closed out a particularly strong 2025. The team finished as number one in the FIFA rankings, secured its qualification for the 2026 World Cup, and achieved a historic record of 31 official matches without a loss, the best unbeaten streak ever recorded by a national team. This collective performance was crucial in De la Fuente regaining the top spot in the IFFHS rankings. The third Latin American representative in the top 10 was Nestor Lorenzo. The Argentine coach, currently managing the Colombian national team, finished in ninth place with 10 points, a position that reflects the international recognition of his work and confirms the strong presence of Argentine coaches among the best in the world. His inclusion reinforces the trend of South American coaches playing an increasingly prominent role in national team management.
