With an investment of $2.62 billion, Mayor Karen Bass approved the Los Angeles Convention Center expansion project on Wednesday, as part of the city's infrastructure preparations for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. 2028.
The mayor stated at a press conference in the West Hall of the Convention Center that the expansion is more than just another project because of the investment impact it represents for the city and the local economy.
“It is our responsibility to do this in a way that, first and foremost, protects our fiscal status, and we will work in coordination with the City Council to implement cost-saving measures, efficiency improvements, and expedite our projects, which is critical to ensuring our timeline while we do everything possible to responsibly expedite this project,” she said.
