Ranchi - Agencies once again conducted a raid in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The raid took place on Ayodhyapuri Road No. 1 on Wednesday. The team arrived at the residence of Saurabh Kumar, an officer of a private bank, to search for documents related to the case involving IAS officer Manish Ranjan. Additionally, documents related to an individual named Thakur were also being examined. There are reports that the agency has acquired some call details. It remains unclear which specific agency conducted the raid.

Connection to IAS Officer Manish Ranjan

It has been reported that the raid is connected to former Jharkhand Rural Development Department Secretary Manish Ranjan. He is currently under investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). On May 28, ED officials interrogated him, during which he maintained his innocence. The ED had summoned him in relation to a case involving commission and money laundering in the Rural Development Department's tender process. Ranjan initially requested more time after receiving the first summons but appeared for questioning following the second summons.

Minister Alamgir Alam and Associates in ED Custody

Jharkhand's Rural Development Minister Alamgir Alam is also in ED custody due to the ongoing investigation into commission and money laundering in departmental tenders. The ED has been interrogating him continuously since taking him into remand. Alam was arrested on May 15, following a summons and subsequent interrogation. Prior to this, his Personal Secretary Sanjeev Kumar Lal and assistant Jahangir Alam were apprehended by the ED, who recovered large sums of money from their premises. An astounding 32 crore rupees were found at Jahangir Alam's location, causing the counting machines to struggle. In total, the ED has recovered approximately 37 crore rupees from various related hideouts.
