Members of the CJNG imposed a curfew in Zacatecas and threatened the state police
The recording, which circulated on social media, shows individuals with long guns and tactical gear making accusations against the state government
A video released by a group of alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) has once again raised security alerts in Zacatecas, as it contains threats Direct attacks against the State Police and warnings of new attacks with explosives. In the message, the armed men accuse local authorities of protecting a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel and warn that the violence will continue. The recording, which circulated on social media, shows men with long guns and tactical gear making accusations against the state government. In their speech, they claim that Zacatecas police officers support “Los Mayos,” a group linked to Ismael Zambada Sicairos, alias “El Mayito Flaco,” and warn that this alleged collaboration will have consequences. The criminal message was released a few days after an attack with explosives against a state patrol vehicle in the municipality of Luis Moya. The attack occurred when officers were responding to a report near the municipal cemetery and an explosive device was detonated remotely, causing material damage to an official vehicle, with no police injuries reported. According to the website En blanco y negro, in the same video the alleged hitmen announced a curfew starting at 9 pm in municipalities such as Luis Moya, Ojocaliente, and other nearby towns, urging the civilian population to remain in their homes to avoid being drawn into the violence that, they claim, will be directed against state authorities. According to Infobae, the armed men stated that they would not carry out attacks against members of the Mexican Army or the National Guard, whom they said would be allowed to move about without restrictions, while insisting that their attacks would be concentrated exclusively on agencies under the command of the Zacatecas government. State authorities believe that these threats could be related to the events that occurred on December 17 in Villa Garcia. where members of the Zacatecas Immediate Reaction Force killed seven armed civilians during a confrontation in the community of Los Campos, near the border with Jalisco. The State Peace and Security Commission indicated that there are preliminary signs that the attack with explosives and the subsequent warnings are part of a retaliatory strategy to hinder the actions of security forces in the region. In response, State Attorney General Christian Paul Camacho confirmed the reinforcement of surveillance in border areas with Aguascalientes and Jalisco, while the state government remains on alert for the possibility of further attacks.
