Workers make progress in repairing oil pipeline after leak in Los Angeles
An oil pipeline was punctured in East Los Angeles, causing a hydrocarbon leak; 27 birds affected by contact with oil were recovered
Crews of workers were making progress in the repair and cleanup caused by an oil pipeline leak that occurred early Friday, May 22, in East Los Angeles.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife reported that oil containment booms were installed at different points in the Los Angeles River after the hydrocarbon reached the southern end, near the Pacific Coast Highway bridge.
The pipeline, which ships thousands of gallons of crude oil, suffered a puncture near the intersection of East César Chávez Avenue and North Eastern Avenue shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Friday.
