The Trump administration told the court that their trade policy played an important role in stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan. This argument was given to justify Trump's tariff policy. Trump used tariff ie import tax as a weapon. This forced India and Pakistan to stop the war.

Victory of America's diplomacy
A ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan on May 10. Trump informed about his post ceasefire on X. The Trump administration called it a victory of its diplomacy. US Commerce Minister Howard Lutnick told the court that this ceasefire was the result of Trump's tariff power.
Lutnick said that if the court limits Trump's tariff power, then India and Pakistan can start a war again. This will increase instability in South Asia. Along with this, America's ongoing trade talks with China will also be affected.
The Trump administration also said that the tariff policy helped in bringing China to the negotiating table. Lutnick said that America benefited because of the tariff. However, India has rejected Trump's claims.
Indian officials said that there was no talk of trade in the ceasefire. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri clarified that the armies of both the countries talked to each other and reached a ceasefire.US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also spoke to the leaders of both countries. But India ruled out any third party mediation.
Donald Trump said that he wants to thank 'the leaders of India, the leaders of Pakistan and our people as well.' The US President further claimed, 'We are also preventing others from fighting, because at the end of the day, we can fight better than anyone. We have the greatest army in the world. We have the greatest leaders in the world.'
