SoCalGas workers assessed the damage caused by the gas pipeline rupture that occurred Saturday afternoon in the Castaic area of ??Los Angeles County, which forced the closure of Freeway 5 for several hours due to a natural gas leak.
The incident was reported at approximately 4:20 p.m. on December 27 near Ridge Route Road and Pine Crest Place, on a gas line running alongside Freeway 5, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD).
The rupture occurred in a 34-inch gas pipeline, under a pressure of 600 pounds per square inch. Due to the pipe rupture, a partial landslide was reported in the area.
